Data from the southern Cascade Mountains of
Oregon has been collected for application in computer
analysis of snowfields. Vegetation type, canopy
cover, slope, aspect, insolation, and snowfield
ground truth delineation are given consideration.
In addition, a procedure for transferral of data
onto Landsat imagery was derived.
This thesis research consists of an investigation of the human
influences on wildlife in Belize. The study was accomplished by the
collection and analysis of data with respect to land use, habitat
characteristics, and wildlife status in Belize. Requirements and
status of many species are tabulated in order to give...
The Willamette River Greenway Program was created by an act of the Oregon Legislature in 1968 and modified by a second act in 1973.
The purpose of the program was to protect the natural environment of the river from approximately the foot of the Cascade Range near Eugene, north to...
The problem of this thesis is to evaluate small tracts of public
domain land as to their best use in an area where the Bureau of Land
Management desires to terminate managerial responsibilities. The
area chosen is located in the Prineville District, Bureau of Land

Stream channel stability for two tributaries of Rock Creek in the
Oregon Coast Range is evaluated by application of a Stream Reach Inventory.
Stability nomographs are constructed for graphical analysis of
erosion potential. Results indicate that channel stability can be
classified. One stream is rated as 'Poor' in resistance to...
Detailed phytosociological and physical data were gathered from six grass-fern balds in the Oregon Coast Range, Monmouth Peak, Grass Mountain, Prairie Peak, Roman Nose Mountain, Tyee Mountain, and Saddle Mountain. Panchromatic and color infrared air photography guided sampling within individual balds. The resultant floristic data was manipulated by a Braun-Blanquet...
The needs and markets for aerial photography have grown
steadily with the increasing demands for improved resource
management (Kodak, 1985, 2 & Simonett, 1983, 1). Aerial
photography within the Willamette Valley could provide researchers
and professionals with a broad range of data in disciplines such as
agriculture, forestry, geology, and...
This paper explores the confusion that exists between general definitions of what constitutes a GIS or CAD system. Then a comparison and contrast is made of microcomputer versions of GIS and CAD programs using as examples two of the most popular, pcARC/INFO and Aut0CAD. The differences and similarities are discussed...
Marginal agricultural and forest lands are currently a focus of concern for public land use agencies in Oregon. Two alternatives for evaluating marginal agricultural lands are the Land Evaluation and Site Assessment (LESA) model of the U.S. Soil Conservation Service and the marginal lands criteria of the 1983 Oregon Legislature's...
Between 1967 and 1973, California, Oregon,
and Washington all established state-wide systems for
the preservation of land in its natural state. These
set aside parcels of land may be termed as Natural
Area Preserves. The history of each state's public
systems, different establishment procedures, and
management policies are discussed.
