Features and Feature Models: A Survey of Variation Representations Walkingshaw, Eric This survey explores and organizes existing work on the long-term management of software that varies in multiple dimensions. It focuses, in particular, on the representation of features in software product lines, and on capturing relationships between features in feature models. WHAT QUESTION OR TOPIC DID YOU GIVE TO THE STUDENT? Your research is concerned with developing a theory of change, part of which is finding a representation for changes and variation in (software) documents. Your task for the qualifier is to review the literature in the fields of software product lines, feature-oriented programming, and (maybe) version management and compare the different approaches to representing change and variation.
