Abstract:
A tuning technique which tunes the continuous time filter very accurately is proposed in this thesis. This technique overcomes the problem of master slave mismatch, thus tuning the filter accurately. The mismatch minimization is done on power up on foreground while the background tuning is always operational. Once the mismatch is minimized on power up, the power up foreground tuning can be turned off and the background tuning takes care of temperature and process variations. This thesis also discusses various techniques to improve the linearity of the filter. Low-voltage issues in the design of continuous-time filters are presented. A 200 kHz 2nd order low-pass filter is implemented in 0.18u CMOS to demonstrate the technique proposed and measurement results indicate that this technique gives accurate corner frequency tuning.
