Abstract:
The Oregon Built Environment & Sustainable Technologies Center (Oregon BEST), an independent nonprofit organization, is a catalyst for research and university-industry collaboration in green building and renewable energy to create business opportunities and jobs in Oregon. Oregon partnered with the Institute for Natural Resources (INR) to conduct a series of workshops in rural communities across the state to identify and
evaluate bio-product opportunities. The overarching goals of the project were to promote rural economic development by connecting rural communities with the technical and policy resources needed to assess and advance biobased energy and product development opportunities; and to inform the Oregon BEST research agenda related to biomass energy and biofuel products. This report focuses almost exclusively on the workshop component.
