Abstract	Work engagement is demonstrated when employees are involved with, committed to, enthusiastic, and passionate about their work. The goal of this study was to summarize relevant information on work engagement, produce a working coding system to identify evidence of work engagement, and discuss the implications of work engagement on an organization. An analysis of qualitative data was performed using three sets of data collected from three separate electronic manufacturing companies in the Pacific Northwest. The data were collected when each company was implementing lean manufacturing tools and concepts. The findings indicate a strong relation between evidence of engagement and perceived individual success. Those employees who showed indication of engagement were more successful in their organization and possessed a greater understanding of company practices.
