Abstract:
Oregon is known around the world for its
blackberries. We have an ideal climate, with
warm, clear, summer days and cool nights, so our berries
reach peak flavor and quality. We also grow
excellent black and red raspberries.
Blackberries are distinguished from raspberries by
whether the fruit retains its receptacle (white core)
when picked. In blackberries, the receptacle stays
with the fruit; in raspberries, it stays with the plant.
This publication briefly describes the growing
requirements and production systems for blackberries.
Differences among types are indicated as appropriate.
