Grape phylloxera, Daktulosphaira vitifoliae (Fitch)
(Homoptera: Phylloxeridae), is an aphidlike insect that feeds aggressively on grape roots. Phylloxera is native to the eastern and southeastern United States, where native American grape species coevolved with the insect.
