Abstract
  • Re searchers have long tried to correlate weather factors with plant disease occurrences. However, inconclusive results have usually been obtained because most plant diseases have biologic as well as climatic optimums. In this study, thirty weather variables were correlated, by the stepwise regression method in a computer, to the amount of wheat lost to stem rust in Nebraska over a period of fifty-two years. The amount of May precipitation was found to be significant at the one per cent confidence level.
