Abstract
  • An excellent opportunity was afforded to observe growth of horseclams of the one-year-plus class when it was discovered April 7, 1950, that a newly formed mud flat in Yaquina Bay, formed September and October 1948 by fill from dredging operations, had thousands of young horseclams embedded in it.” (p.1) Growth and condition were studied. Continues a study on fat gapers (horseclams), “Horseclam condition studies” (Shellfish investigation progress report 18), to determine optimal timing of open and closed clamming seasons.
