Abstract
  • A line of four garments was designed and developed using the various stages of the design process, based on the idea of translating music into fashion, the intangible into the tangible. The line was inspired by Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4 in F Minor, guided by the composer’s music and symphonic intentions, and molded by my own interpretations and design aesthetics. In this thesis, I document, demonstrate, and analyze the process of design I used to produce this creative scholarship, by recording the stages I experienced from the original idea to the final outcome. The results are physical garments that reflect the musical work of this 19th century Russian composer.
