Abstract
  • The presence of feedback in an inputoutput system associated with an oceanographic phenomenon is determined. A testing procedure to determine the presence of feedback is given. The ordinary transfer function model is determined not to be appropriate in modeling the system. The two and three stage least squares methods are used to estimate the parameters of a system of equations associated with the phenomenon. Computer simulation is used to verify the adequacy of the model. It is shown that without the inclusion of feedback parameters, the model fails to represent the physical nature of events. Several other methods of analysis are reviewed.
