Abstract	The creative writing portfolio Fewer Mice includes 53 “Liners” (comedic one-liners), four untitled prose poems, two flash-length stories (“Cleanup” and “Battle Creek”), and two short stories (“Pipes” and “Tulips”). The purpose of this portfolio was to explore the craft of writing and determine which techniques are specifically and personally beneficial to poem, flash, and short-story lengths. The method involved research, discussions with professional writers, and an extensive editing process. It was found that even though details and extensive dialogue seemed better suited for multiple-scene short stories, brevity, clarity, ingenuity, rhythm, and humor were helpful to all lengths of my personal writing.
