  • The study examined Fish Value Chain (FVC) in Yola area of Adamawa state, Nigeria. Primary data were collected using questionnaire and were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results showed that female dominate the fish marketing and processing nodes with 79% and 62% respectively while male (77%) dominate the production node and they are also the majority (69%) of the consumers' household heads. Four major nodes were identified along the fish value chain namely fish farmer, fish processors, fish marketers and consumers. Fish processors obtained the highest margin of N998.29/kg followed by fish farmers with N495.04/kg. Fresh fish marketers made the least gross margin of N459.26/kg. Fish roasting (pepper- fish), frying, smoking and sun drying were the value addition carried out. The major constraints facing the business include poor quality fingerlins, high cost of feeds, access to capital, fish spoilage and poor storage facilities. It is recommended that cooperative societies be formed by farmers and marketers to enhance their access to capital for provision inputs, cold room for storage and transportation facilities.
