The Coniferous Forest Biome Program (CFBP) was initiated by the U.S. International Biological Program in the late 1960's. It was one of six biome studied. The others were were Deciduous Forest, Grassland, Desert, Tundra, and Tropical.
The CFBP was an interdisciplinary research effort concerned with the structure and functioning of coniferous forest and associated aquatic ecosystems. Emphasis was placed on western North America.
The first major finding of the CFBP was released in September of 1970. By 1972 it had extended to include more than 100 scientists from 15 universities, national laboratories and government agencies.
Included in this collection are the Internal Reports, Bulletins and Annual Progress Reports housed in print in the OSU Libraries. Other reports about the project are included selectively.
