Abstract
  • National Forest Plans have been developed and implemented on the 19 National Forests and one National Grassland in the Pacific Northwest Region, Region 6, of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service. These Plans were developed under the provisions of the National Forest Management Act of 1976 and the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, as amended. The 19 Forest Plans in Region 6 were completed and implemented between February 1989 and February 1991. These Plans provide the direction, objectives, standards and guidelines for management of the National Forests and the National Grassland in this Region. They will ordinarily be revised on a 10-year cycle, and may be amended or revised at any time conditions or requirements on the forests or grassland change. The information presented is a summary of the National Forest Plans and the Grassland Plan. Acreage data may differ slightly from acreage data published elsewhere due to the mapping systems used in the development of the Plans, or to rounding of figures. In addition, three Forest Plans include parts of other states. Questions about an individual Forest Plan may be directed to the respective National Forest Supervisor or to the Director of Planning, headquarted in Portland, Oregon.
