- Abstract:
- p-type conducting films of α- BaCu₂S₂ have been deposited onto glass and KBr substrates, yielding a conductivity of 17 S/cm and a Hall mobility of 3.5 cm²/Vs. For a 430-nm-thick film, the optical transparency approaches 90% in the visible portion of the spectrum at 650 nm, and a transparency of...

- Abstract:
- Thermal decomposition of several di-p-toluenesulfonylhydrazones was studied. It was found that the carbene decomposition of tetramethyl-1,3-cyclobutanedione, di-p-toluenesulfonylhydrazone gave two products resulting from rearrangement. One was identified as 2,5-dimethyl-1,3,4-hexatriene. A tentative structure for the second was proposed. During the course of the study, a more convenient procedure for thermal decompositions was...

- Abstract:
- Transparent films of CuScO₂₊ₓ have been prepared which show p-type electrical conductivity. The temperature dependence of the conductivity indicates semiconducting behavior with an apparent room temperature activation energy of 0.11 eV. The highest room temperature conductivity observed was 30 S cm⁻1. Films 110 nm thick show 40% transparency in most...

- Abstract:
- Work is presented which explores the properties and nature of the P-form of DNA. Initially the P-form represented an unknown state of DNA which occurred when this molecule was in a solvent of 47.5% methanol, 5% water, and 47.5% ethanol, and which showed properties of both native and denatured conformations....

- This thesis details my investigation of some pharmaceuticals and natural products on the transport of drugs which are substrates of P-glycoprotein (P-gp), such as cyclosporin A (CSA) and digoxin by using Caco-2 and MDCKII-MDR1 drug transport models. Three objectives were performed to address this goal. The first objective was to...

- This thesis investigates a way to fabricate P-N junctions by percussive welding. The theoretical basis of percussive welding, design considerations of the apparatus used, and the electrical characteristics of the junctions were the main objectives of this investigation. P-type silicon wafers and gold wire doped with arsenic as a N-type...

- Preliminary studies with a dog (Canis familiaris) and a coyote (Canis latrans) showed that these carnivores can serve as definitive hosts in the life cycle of Sarcocystis fusiformis of cattle (Bos taurus) and a microscopic Sarcocystis of mule deer (Odocoileus hemionus hemionus). Preliminary studies to determine effects of the cervine...

- Abstract:
- Nine experiments were conducted during 1964 and 1965 to study the methods of reproduction and mode of spread of sago pondweed (Potamogeton pectinatus) in irrigation systems. Frequent treatments of sago pondweed foliage with aromatic solvent greatly reduced the number of tubers in the substratum of an irrigation canal. However, complete...
