This document contains a result of a study to determine the role of hatchery-reared winter steelhead in steelhead fisheries. The study examines the contribution of these salmon ‘with respect to’ angling intensity, number of fish stocked, contribution of native stocks, and several other factors. It also investigates survival of hatchery-reared...
Dam removal is increasingly viewed as a river restoration tool because dams affect so many aspects of river hydrology, geomorphology, and ecology; but removal also has impacts. When a dam is removed, sediment accumulated over a dam’s lifetime may be transported downstream; and the timing, fate and consequences of this...
Bar-pool morphology in rivers can provide vital habitat to aquatic species, notably salmonids, which require gravel riffles to bury eggs and pools for hydraulic and cold-water refuge. In some cases, the erosion and subsequent deposition of coarse sediment downstream of a dam removal can modify habitat by inundating bar-pool structure,...
Includes a brief report of a survey of the Yaquina River to the head of tide, including part of the Big Elk River up to Sunset Quarry. Concludes that the river is "sufficiently navigable to meet all demands of commerce," (p.2) and does not recommend any improvements.
This report describes sediment testing done on the Yaquina River benthos between river miles 6 and 11 (a section between Yaquina and Toledo). The sediments were found to be safe for in-water disposal, thus enabling dredging to proceed.
Oregon's estuaries are important ecosystems for scientific study. Consequently, knowledge of what research has been conducted helps us identify benchmarks and plan new projects. A comprehensive bibliography of published research, technical reports, local documents, and data sets is one means of recording this knowledge. For these reasons, the Guin Library...

Floodplain forests play many important roles in the fluvial processes and environments of large alluvial rivers, including acting as geomorphological influences and habitat for native fish during high flows. Many large, gravel-bed river systems have undergone substantial change in recent centuries, resulting in loss of forested area to agriculture, reduction...
