We report on geochemical data from anoxic sequences of the Nicobar Fan, recovered during International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) expedition 362 to the Sumatra subduction zone. Analyses include strontium and carbon isotope composition of pore fluids, elemental and isotopic composition of carbonate concretions, and whole sediment analyses.
Ecological network models and analyses are recognized as valuable tools for understanding the dynamics and resiliency of
ecosystems, and for informing ecosystem-based approaches to management. However, few databases exist that can
provide the life history, demographic and species interaction information necessary to parameterize ecological network
models. Faced with the difficulty...
In the process of building international water policies and management institutions, like international treaties and River Basin Organizations, States simultaneously signal the values that they view as most important in these different institutions. Examining expressed and acted-upon values for transboundary freshwater management are currently under-explored areas where overlapping lenses of...
Superwarfarins are anticoagulant rodenticides that are 100 times more potent and 15 times more persistent than warfarin. They have been used since the 1980s and cause over 10,000 cases of accidental and intentional poisonings per year. Apart from inducing uncontrollable bleeding, by inhibiting the vitamin K cycle, superwarfarins can disrupt...
Currently the Food and Drug Administration publishes radiopharmaceutical information for physicians to choose appropriate medical diagnosis and therapy for their patients. The primary functions of these radiopharmaceuticals are diagnosis and delivering doses to a patient with appropriate energy, biological half life, chemical behavior, and radiological half life. These radiopharmaceuticals preferentially...
The sweet potato is one of the world’s most widely consumed crops, yet its evolutionary history is poorly understood. In this paper, we present a comprehensive phylogenetic study of all species closely related to the sweet potato and address several questions pertaining to the sweet potato that remained unanswered. Our...
Data variations are prevalent in real-world applications. For example, software vendors have to handle numerous variations in the business requirements, conventions, and environmental settings of a software product. In database-backed software, the database of each version may have a different schema and content. As another example, data scientists often need...
Allegro is a database management system being built at Oregon State University to provide a vehicle for ongoing research in information systems architecture. The initial Allegro system is a single user environment incorporating a limited network model database management system based on the proposals made by various CODASYL committees. This...
Since its introduction in the early 1990s, the quick growth of the World Wide Web
(WWW) traffic raises the question of whether past Local Area Network (LAN) packet
traces still reflect the current situation or whether they have become obsolete. For this
thesis, several LAN packet traces were obtained by...
The minimal kernel for a network data base management
system is developed. It includes format specification for
the object schema and the data base file, and routines for
performing the basic network functions.
The object schema defines the relationship between the
schema, records, sets, and fields. It informs the system...
