Abstract
  • Milk production costs depend on the prices and quantities of resources employed. The prices paid by the individual dairy farmer are affected by the general levels of feed and other prices, labor wages, and also by the location of the dairy farm. Factors affecting the quantities of resources include herd size, milk production per cow, percentage of butterfat, and again, the location of the farm. 1/ This study analyzes these factors in estimating the average cost of producing Grade A milk in Oregon Milk Marketing Area One in 1968. 2/
