Abstract
  • Oregon has many climates because of its proximity to the ocean and because of the complex mountain ranges within the State. Extensive record of the climate of Oregon is to be found in some libraries and Weather Service Offices in the publication, Climatological Data, Oregon. There is need, however, for summarized climatological data as a reference available to persons unable to carry out library research. This report makes available a summary of basic climatological elements for each general climatic region of Oregon including marine, modified marine of western valleys, and the rather continental and high desert climate of Eastern Oregon. One or more representative stations is presented here for each important agricultural area in the State. This report should answer many agri-climate questions for the Extension Service and other informational services in the state. Some answers to general questions in planning and designing research projects can be answered by use of this paper. Detailed climatic needs in research or climate information for specific locations may be addressed to the Crop Science Weather Advisory Office.
