Abstract
  • Over the past several years we have been developing Fishery Performance Indicators (FPIs) to measure the degree of success fisheries systems have in achieving environmental, economic and community outcomes. We have also developed indicators of key input factors. Among the input factors we have explicitly developed indicators for women’s participation and leadership in fishery harvest and post-harvest activity. These data are essential for improving understanding of the relative importance of gender, infrastructure, management tools, rights and macro-factors in the success or failure of fisheries management systems. To date this data have been collected for over 80 fisheries systems in both developed and developing countries.
