Abstract
  • In Foothills for Food and Forests, the International Hill Land Symposium, held at Oregon State University in April 1983.
  • Allegheny Highlands Project (AHP) was a 10 year research project conducted by West Virginia University College of Agriculture and Forestry. A package approach designed to enhance production and financial returns was used to recommend new technologies to forage livestock producers. Methodologies used to disseminate information included newsletters, educational meetings, demonstrations, field days, farm visits and one-to-one contacts. Results were that one-to-one contact and demonstrations were most effective. Other techniques played an important role in the adoption of technology and it was impossible to determine precisely the magnitude of their individual importance.
