Abstract
  • Salmon is one of the most successful aquaculture species measured in produced quantity and growth. The industry is highly export oriented, and creation of new markets has been instrumental for the industry's success. However, the rapid transformation of the markets due to the increased production has also led to a number of challenges. Among the most important has been a number of trade conflicts where domestic producers claims that the import competition is unfair, while the exporters indicates that the domestic producers are inefficient. In this paper we will look closer at the various trade issues, including the dumping cases against Norwegian and Chilean producers in the EU and the USA. Particular focus will be given to the effects the trade issues have on the development of the industry.
