Abstract	Crime rates affect everything from home values, to the quality of education. Through the use of Social Disorganization Theory this paper will support the hypothesis that there is a correlation between neighborhood upkeep and crime rates within neighborhoods. Social Disorganization theory itself aims to show the correlation between the place in which one grows up and the likelihood that one is to deviate from social norms and participate in deviant behavior. This theory has not been applied to all types of crimes, but instead focuses on street crimes.
