Abstract
  • Yetis, Cheshire cats, and phoenixes—these are all names of cohorts in the Orbis Cascade Alliance’s inaugural mentorship program. The pilot program connected nine mentors with twenty-one mentees in small groups to build community, confidence, and investment in consortium work. The initial cohort ran from 2018–2019, and the Alliance plans to continue the mentorship program as resources allow. This chapter discusses the development of the shared mentorship model, the program goals, and the successes and practical benefits that emerged from the program. We describe the training program the mentors went through and other aspects of the implementation of this mentorship project. Finally, we discuss effective strategies to improve virtual mentorship cohort sessions and successful methods for cross-institutional mentorship.
