Abstract
  • My project was to determine the possibility of using the current existing road design free software to model and design a mountain bike trail. Thus, I collected the traverse data a given section trail with my Mentor. I entered all the data points into a program of RoadEng where it produced a 3D virtual trail from the data. It consisted of the overall bearings, elevation, slopes, width, length, and cross-sections of the trail. My role was to be creative with the default settings since it's a road design software. I tested most of the possible settings and got the desired effects that simulated a bike trail. Due to the trail was built upon data points, it had very sharp dangerous turns. Based on the data of slope runs, I carefully modified the trail with the given boundaries. The final result is a redesigned trail.
