Abstract
  • This case study examines the Upper Klamath Basin of Oregon, which is experiencing a water crisis due to over-allocation. The purpose of this case study is to identify land cover / land use change looking specifically at wetland conversion and to discussion the effects of wetland loss on ecosystem services. This case study uses Geographic Information System techniques to process and analyses historic Oregon vegetation data from 1938 and 1992 and National Land Cover Data from 2001 and 2011. This study also discusses policies that led to the over-allocation of resources and recommendations on wetland restoration and sustainable natural resource management practices.
