Abstract
  • Oregon Agriculture by the Numbers - 2017 Census of Agriculture Data
  • Trends and insights into Oregon Agricultural Business Succession Planning.
  • The 2017 Census of Agriculture offers a snapshot of the state of agriculture in Oregon: acreage is falling, the number of farms is rising, the average age of owners is 59.7 and average farm size is 424 acres. Data on ownership show 80 percent are sole proprietorships or partnerships, which indicates there is a lack of succession planning. That fact points out the need for education, support and incentives for succession planning.
