Abstract	The objective of this project was to determine the limitations of the distillation equipment available and to design suitable experiments for chemical engineering students with these limitations in mind. This paper, then, serves as an operating manual and reference guide to the use of the glass distillation equipment and the gas-liquid chromatograph. In addition typical data for different experiments and operating conditions are presented, as well as calculations essential for any distillation column analyses. Different binary alcohol mixtures are considered with regard to safety and equilibrium data to determine those suitable for laboratory distillation experiments.
