Abstract	The constant increase in marine traffic requires a strategy to manage safety. The automatic identification system (AIS) was developed as a navigation safety device for ships in the 1990s. AIS is intended, primarily, to allow ships to view marine traffic in their area and to be seen by that traffic. However, the huge dimension of the AIS data to process requires the adoption of careful strategies for the data visualization. In this project, our work focused on visualizing the global AIS data on a 3D Earth. It was necessary to have a global view to see the ship distribution throughout the world, for marine research and business. Three.js was used to create and display animated 3D computer graphics for this Web Application.
