  • Oregon Speedcode Universe (OSU) is a rapid prototyping system that provides a total environment for creating applications. Given such a vacuous prototyping system consisting of sequenced user interface objects can domain specific application functions be incorporated? Furthermore, can functionality be added by automatic or semi automatic techniques? This research attempts to answer these questions by showing how functionality can be added to the vacuous prototype using domain-specific software accelerators. We illustrate the usefulness of this approach by applying the techniques described in the paper to mathematical modeling. Experimental results indicate that it is possible to build a wide-spectrum prototyping system from a vacuous prototyping core by adding domain-specific software accelerators.
