Abstract
  • Cirque aspects and elevations in the major highlands of Oregon indicate a pattern of climate during the Pleistocene similar to that of today. Mean cirque floor elevation increases toward the drier interior. Concentrations of cirques facing northeast, and steep gradients of cirque floor trend surfaces to the southwest, indicate a predominant southwesterly winter wind. No specific relationship exists between cirque aspect and cirque elevation. Local topography probably has a greater influence on cirque elevation than has been previously acknowledged.
