Abstract
  • When considering acreage and the number of cadasters certain land use functions in the Merlin Irrigation District dominate. The majority of the cadasters in the district are ten acres or less. Approximately twice an many land owners in the district were willing to purchase water than those who were not. Certain water derived services were perceived to be needed, as in the case of fire control; or not needed, as with municipal and industrial. The response to irrigation, recreation, and domestic water services was mixed. There is a correlation between land use and cadaster size and the land owners perceptions of his water needs. For example, the land owners of local residential land perceived a lesser need for irrigation water than the land owners of all land uses in the district. However, the perceived need that did exist increased with increasing acreage size of the residential cadaster.
