Abstract or Summary
  • A computer program called SAPWOOD which possesses the capability of performing linear or nonlinear, static or dynamic response including seismic excitation for wood-framed buildings with semirigid connection systems is presented in this study. Program SAPWOOD is a modification of the program NONSAP by adding new elements such as a linkage element, a composite-beam element, a 3/D beam element and a plate/shell element to the element library. The composite-beam element (substructure) is an assemblage of a beam element, plate/shell elements and spring elements. The method applied to T-beams and I-beams is verified by comparing the analytical results with the results of previous studies. Results are also compared with those available from the experiment and models analyzed by the computer program ADINA. An inelastic load-slip hysteresis loop model was also proposed which can be used to predict the inelastic force-deformation of nailed joints accurately.
