Abstract
  • The product of my internship was a working draft of a land use and master plan for the SPC to review. The draft is to be used for creating a more comprehensive land use and zoning master plan. Attempts were made to incorporate input from federal, state, and local governments, NGOs, and interested public citizens. The primary purpose of developing the land use and zoning plan was to lay out guidelines for future development. The first step in this process was to gather and analyze existing planning documents and related laws and regulations. The land use and zoning plan strives to summarize and incorporate previous legislation and fill planning gaps. The second step involved contacting federal, state, and municipal government agencies to explain the development of a land use and zoning plan and to ask for their ideas and input. The third step was to begin working on a citizen outreach program.
