Graduate Thesis Or Dissertation | Evaluation of the FDA derived intervention levels and exposure rate of 0.4 µR/hr
using NARAC Web Atmosphere and Diffusion Modeling System | ID: 76537542b | translation missing: zh.hyrax.product_name
The Oregon Department of Energy has set up recommendations for agricultural
crop and non-crop embargo zones following an accidental or purposeful radioactive
release. Of special interest are the FDA’s Derived Intervention Levels (DIL) and the
state’s exposure limit of 0.4µR/hr. At the Oregon State University Emergency Response
Research and Support Lab, NARAC Web Atmosphere and Diffusion Modeling System is
used to generate consequences from possible radiation release accident scenarios. Using
scenario and NARAC outputs, the DIL and exposure are calculated and compared to the
recommended DIL and exposure limits. Analysis of these calculations reveals a wide
assortment of dissimilarities in the recommended limits for which the embargo zones are
set.
