Abstract
  • In this study, pulsed NMR is used to probe the hyperfine interactions in liquid Se₀₅Te₀₅ doped with 3% Ga over the temperature range from 500 °C to 900 °C. Both resonance shifts and relaxation times are determined for ⁷⁷Se, ⁷¹Ga and ⁶⁹Ga. NMR on both Ga-isotopes allows one to measure the influence of the two major relaxation mechanisms, quadrupolar and paramagnetic relaxation, separately over the temperature range considered. The temperature dependence of the quadrupolar correlation time is measured, and the activation energy characterizing this temperature dependence is determined. The magnetic hyperfine interaction constant and the magnetic hyperfine field are measured at the sites of Ga- and Se-nuclei, and the field at the Se-site is compared with the fields in other undoped Se-Te alloys.
