Abstract
  • An experiment has been conducted using a triple directional correlation method developed by K. S. Krane, R. M. Steffen and R. M. Wheeler (ref. 3). This method is presented and two normal detection geometries are introduced. The performance of the N1- and N2- geometry was studied in four experiments using NaI-detectors only. The method was applied on the 764 keV - 1505 keV - 658 keV cascade in the decay of ¹¹⁰Cd. The measurements were able to confirm the E2/M1 mixing ratio of the 1505 keV transition of S = -.52 ± .10. Corrections due to accidental coincidences are discussed in detail, and their influence on the measured triple cascade has been estimated.
