Abstract
  • This paper describes a learning control system which is capable of controlling a linear plant subjected to periodic inputs, providing that an upper limit for the order of the plant is known. Otherwise the characteristics of the plant and the inputs are unknown. Only one system variable is measured. The feature measurements used for recognition are the harmonics of the system error. The controller learns to obtain the best choice of control parameters of each environment by hill climbing and a pattern recognizing process. The controller also learns to construct a separation surface for the pattern classes in the measurement space by using a piecewise linear classification technique. The learning control system was simulated on an EAI 690 hybrid computer facility. Experimental results obtained from the simulation are presented.
