Abstract or Summary
  • The use of selected computer games was studied as an intervention technique in an attempt to increase achievement of learning disabled adolescents in basic multiplication And division facts. A multiple baseline design across subjects with a follow-up was employed in an applied behavioral setting. The subjects were two female and two male learning disabled adolescents enrolled in a public high school. Achievement was measured using investigator-made tests. The number of correct responses made during baseline and intervention phases were recorded on graphs. Results indicated that selected computer games were effective as an instructional strategy for these learning disabled students who had poor knowledge of multiplication and division facts. The students demonstrated improved performance and maintained this performance level thirty days after the intervention was discontinued. It was concluded that selected computer games provide a viable supplement to classroom instruction as a means of improving learning disabled adolescents' achievement in multiplication and division facts.
