Abstract
  • This thesis describes the design and implementation of a motor controller that is a customizable and cost effective replacement for the motor controllers used by Edwards Robotics Company (ERC). Extensive research of comparable products available in the market was conducted. The research formed the basis for the design specifications of the motor controller and a top-down design methodology was used to realize the controller. The controller was implemented and tested and meets all the design specifications. The most notable characteristics are a total cost of materials of approximately $101 and the capability of supplying a motor load with up to 40 amperes of DC current. Furthermore, the motor controller will serve as a viable solution for ERC’s needs.
