Abstract
  • The Virtual Machine Control Structure is an x86 hardware structure available on Intel platforms which support the VMX instruction set extensions. Developers working with Linux kernel virtualization technologies may need to alter fields in the VMCS, but the few existing tools for updating the structure are unstable or difficult to use. Fortunately the Kernel has a way to expose internal structures using SysFS, a virtual file system which exposes a common interface for Kernel implementation details, internal structures, and layout. To expose VMCS fields to SysFS we wrote a patch to the Linux kernel. We unsuccessfully attempted to get this patch merged upstream into the Linux Kernel. Key Words: Linux, Virtual Machine, KVM
