  • Reports on a study to consider increasing the depth of the channel at the entrance to Yaquina Bay. Recommends against further channel deepening. "In my opinion it is beyond the power of man to make it into a harbor of sufficient capacity for deep-draft ships engaged in foreign commerce, or in fact to give this entrance a bar channel depth appreciably greater than that now existing." (p.3)
