Abstract
  • Results of 1977 and 1978 field trials of weed control research in horticultural crops are given in this report. These studies were conducted by the research staff at Corvallis. Funds and supplies from the various companies of the agricultural chemical industry with products included in this report are gratefully acknowledged,
  • Randomized block designs were used for all experiments. A variety of cultural practices were used in growing the various crops listed in this report, but in all cases an attempt was made to use good cultural practices within the limits of the experimentation. All herbicide treatments were applied with precision equipment designed for research plot application. Unless otherwise indicated, incorporation of preplant herbicide applications was with a PTO horizontal rotary tiller operated at a depth of approximately 3 inches. All irrigations were made with overhead sprinklers, and after critical timings listed were supplied at approximately weekly intervals to provide adequate moisture for good crop growth. Crop and weed responses reported here are primarily a visual evaluation of stand reduction (SR) and growth reduction (GR), with 100 as the maximum response for each of these. Other information was recorded in some trials and is indicated in specific information provided with each. The letter F indicates that data were not collected for the particular plot-parameter combination.
