Abstract	The main problems for consideration are as follows: 1) Determine if there is biological justification for having a single coastwide season or have seasons which differ by geographical area; 2) Establish season opening(s) that on the average will occur as soon as 10 per cent or less of the crabs caught are in a softshell condition; 3) Permit harvesting when the greatest meat yield can be realized consistent with other management goals providing for the over-all harvest.
