Abstract
  • DIRECTOR’S NOTES: No Exit is a timeless tale set circa World War II. Written in 1944 during the German occupation of France, this existentialist drama imagines what happens after death --- and the punishment that might be waiting for the damned. There are no torture devices in this version of hell, just an uncomfortable room and three people for all eternity. Enjoy watching as three strangers from different walks of life are united by their weaknesses, learning, "Hell is other people." This is my second time directing and my first time directing a full length play. No Exit has been a wonderful learning experience, forcing laughter and fun while work-ing through the heavy, sometimes downright uncomfortable, philosophies in the script. For the audience: This is not a comfortable play. There is no happy ending. It is, after all, a play about hell.
