Abstract
  • This work introduces the design and fabrication of a green-sourced and mostly biodegradable microbial fuel cell for use in soft robotic applications from environmental sensing to wastewater remediation. Theorized from other biodegradable fuel cells, this prototype achieved maximum power densities of 4.0 x 10−4 W/m2 in the single-chambered design and 5.6 x 10−7 W/m2 using the double-chambered design. Additional modifications to the current design were proposed to optimize fabrication and performance, and can be implemented in later studies. Key Words: Microbial Fuel Cell, soft robotics, green, biodegradable
