Abstract
  • Evolution, development and progress mark the pathway of mankind from the earliest history of the race to the present time. In art, science and literature, remarkable transformations have taken place; in habits, customs and modes of living; we have passed from the primitive conditions of wild, savage tribes to that of intelligent, cultured and refined peoples of the present day. The changes that have taken place in the modes or manner of bread-making have been as great as that of any other scientific achievement. Bread in some form has been known almost everywhere since history first began and is used more universally as an article of diet, among all but the most savage people, than any other kind of food, except milk.
