Abstract	Following the installation of a street car system, or for that matter, any other electric system, using the ground return, or the rail return which comes in contact with the ground, there is always more or less trouble experienced by water or gas companies, using metal pipe, due to the electrolytic action in points so located, that the direction of flow of current is from the water or gas main to the rail. It was the privilege of the writer to conduct an electroysis survey for the benefit of the water system in a city of about 15,000 inhabitants.
