dc.description.abstract Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is a product development process that assures the needs and desires of the customer are heard and heeded during the design, development and production of a product. Though it has been used successfully in other industries, only a few companies in the U. S. Engineering and Construction Industry have used QFD. The purpose of this project was to demonstrate that QFD can be used to assure that the voice of the owner is heard and heeded in the planning and conceptual design of a construction project. QFD methods were used in the conceptual design of a large capacity state-of-the-art, college classroom. Two classroom concepts and a list of related teaching-aid equipment were produced. These demonstrate that using QFD renders conceptual designs that respond to the voice of the customer. en_US
